Guam Cancer Registry Publications
The Guam Cancer Registry (GCR) will facilitate the identification and
recruitment of Guam cancer patients into prevention and control research
studies to examine ethnic disparities in cancer incidence and survival.  The
establishment of a population based rapid cancer case ascertainment system is
essential to epidemiological, therapeutic, and behavioral research.

The GCR has been award full-member status in the North American
Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) - www.naaccr.org - and
has submitted 5 years of local data (1998-2002) to the International Association
of Cancer Registries (IACR - WHO) for publication in their report "Cancer in
Five Continents."  

A presentation comparing Guam 1998 - 2002 and U.S. 2002 age specific and
age-adjusted cancer and certain other disease death rates titled, "Health on
Guam: Age-Specific and Age-Adjusted Mortality Data", derived from Guam
and U.S. death certificates, was presented at the 2nd Micronesian Medical
Symposium on Guam in October 2005.

It is intended that future GCR publications will include more interpretive
narration, graphics, comparative statistics, etc.
